GUNI-KBION Invitation for National Webinar

World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) is observed across the Globe during the first week of August (1-7 August) every year to highlight the vital importance of breastfeeding in neonatal, infant and child survival and maternal health.

The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) gives the theme each year to address a specific subject needing focused attention to support mothers to breastfeed successfully. This year’s theme for World Breastfeeding Week is “Enabling Breastfeeding – Making a Difference for Working Parents.”

According to WHO, Undernutrition is associated with 2.7 million child deaths annually. Infant and young child feeding is key to improving child survival and promoting healthy growth and development. Optimal breastfeeding is so critical that it could save the lives of over 820000 children under the age of 5 years each year.

The Optimal breastfeeding practices recommended by WHO, UNICEF and the Government of India include initiation of breastfeeding within one hour of birth, exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life and continued breastfeeding up to the age of 2 years or beyond, along with complementary feeding after six months. Working mothers face additional challenges to practice breastfeeding and require enhanced support regarding maternity leave, worksite facilities like creche and breastfeeding rooms etc. Working mothers also need counselling and skilled support to feed their baby optimally.

World Breastfeeding Week (WBW), Ganpat University – Kumud & Bhupesh Institute of Nursing, organizes National Webinar on “Enabling Breastfeeding – Making a Difference for Working Parents.

We are pleased to invite you to join the event on 7th August 2023 (Monday) – 3- 4 PM (IST),
